Homosassa Florida is located on the west coast of Florida. It is a fishing and crabbing town. The county is Citrus County. The town of Old Homosassa is on the Homosassa River which leads to the Gulf of Mexico. This area is the true Nature Coast of Florida.
The river connects to the Homosassa Springs where manatee come by the hundreds in the Winter to stay warm. The springs are very popular in the Summer with swimmers as the water remains around 72 degrees all year long.
The Homosassa River is a very scenic river with tons of wildlife. It is home to both saltwater and fresh water sealife. Eagles, osprey, pelicans, dolphins, manatee, tarpon, blue crab and stone crab all share these waters and skies. The Gulf of Mexico is a short beautiful boat ride from the river.
